How to judge the quality of UPS battery
There is a special battery measuring instrument for judging the quality of the battery, but the general user rarely has such an instrument, and only has a multimeter.
The following points are summarized for judging the quality of the battery during maintenance for reference.
1. Judging from the appearance, observe whether the appearance is deformed, protruded, leaked, ruptured, scorched, and whether there is oxide leakage at the screw connection.
2. If there is no abnormality in the appearance of the load measurement, the UPS is working in battery mode with a certain amount of load. If the discharge time is significantly shorter than the normal discharge time, after 8 hours of charging, the normal backup time cannot be restored, and the battery is determined to be aging.
3. Measure with a multimeter
A. Measure the terminal voltage of each battery in the battery pack in the battery discharge mode. If the terminal voltage of one or more batteries is significantly higher or lower than the nominal voltage (nominal voltage 12V/cell), the battery is determined to be aging.
B. Measure the charging voltage of each battery terminal in the battery pack in the mains mode. If the charging voltage of one or more batteries is significantly higher or lower than other voltages, it is determined that the battery is aging.
C. Measure the total voltage of the battery pack. The total voltage of the battery pack is significantly lower than the nominal value (take the nominal value of the C1K battery pack as 36V as an example), and it cannot return to the normal value after charging for 8 hours. If the time does not reach the normal discharge time, it is judged that the battery is aging.
D. The battery is turned on and the UPS is not turned on, and do not connect to the mains. First, use a multimeter to measure the total voltage of the battery pack. Take C1K as an example. At this time, the voltage may be between 36V-40V, which is a normal value. Do not leave the test pen and keep watching. Hold the instruction of the multimeter, and then connect the power button. If the total battery voltage immediately drops below 30V or even more than ten volts, the UPS will automatically shut down immediately, and the voltage will return to the original value immediately after shutdown. Determine the battery aging.
